Food Freedom
A comprehensive curative resource list for becoming independent from mainstream food sources.
In 1961, William and Lucille Salatin moved their young family to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, purchasing the most worn-out, eroded, abused farm in the area near Staunton. Using nature as a pattern, they and their children began the healing and innovation that now supports three generations.
Disregarding conventional wisdom, the Salatins planted trees, built huge compost piles, dug ponds, moved cows daily with portable electric fencing, and invented portable sheltering systems to produce all their animals on perennial prairie polycultures.
Today the farm arguably represents America’s premier non-industrial food production oasis. Believing that the Creator’s design is still the best pattern for the biological world, the Salatin family invites like-minded folks to join in the farm’s mission: to develop emotionally, economically, environmentally enhancing agricultural enterprises and facilitate their duplication throughout the world.
The Salatins continue to refine their models to push environmentally-friendly farming practices toward new levels of expertise.

The Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) is your source for accurate information on nutrition and health, always aiming to provide the scientific validation of traditional foodways. People seeking health today often condemn certain food groups — such as grains, dairy foods, meat, salt, fat, sauces, sweets and nightshade vegetables — but the Wise Traditions Diet is inclusive, not exclusive.
We show you how to include all these nourishing traditional foods in your diet through wise choices and proper preparation techniques. The result is vibrant health for every age of life, including the next generation. Read more. . .

Our family business sells heirloom vegetable seeds and related gardening products.
This is a way for my kids to learn hard work, diligence, and teamwork, and is a great supplement to their homeschooling curriculum. We’ve named it Seeds for Generations for several reasons: The business is a vehicle for passing on a love for heirloom seeds and gardening to our descendants. We will help expand the circle of people reconnecting with the land and growing more of their own food. All life and economic activity ultimately comes from two physical sources: the land and the sun. More people growing means more people literally using seeds for generating life and productivity, an important activity in our consumer economy that’s coming apart at the seams. We sell 100% heirloom/open pollinated seeds on our site! (We grow all of our crops personally without pesticides. However, we do source some seeds from other suppliers, and those aren’t always organic. In those cases, the organic status is clearly stated in the product details.)
Aaron Miller grew up on a conventional dairy farm.
In Aaron’s Amish community, children do not go to high school. Instead, they work to gain a real world education. Aaron worked on his family’s farm.
As every teenager, he started to question his life’s purpose. Luckily, there was a neighboring grass farmer that was happy to share his knowledge with Aaron.
Once Aaron learned the profound value of all natural farms, it quickly became his calling.
Aaron immersed himself in learning about radically traditional farming practices. This includes how livestock and products are handled with care and respect and are not treated with pesticides, hormones, or GMOs.
After several years of study, Aaron had fully discovered the benefits of natural foods and regenerative farming. He decided to create his own naturally-produced and grass-fed farm.
Aaron and his family started farming the old-fashioned way and producing grass-fed real foods. By 2009, they were fully operational and selling their goods.
The farm grew into a buying club that sources food from local farms (mostly Amish) that practice in the same manner Miller’s Biodiversity Farm does.
